A little about me… I live with my husband and our three beautiful children in sunny Tucson, Arizona. I get to draw and paint either in my studio, or outside, surrounded by birds, trees and flowers. It is absolutely gorgeous here, so I feel truly thankful to be an Arizona artist with the inspiration of the desert all around me.
I grew up in Northern California, and have always loved anything involving either creativity or animals. When I wasn’t riding horses or playing with my dogs, I loved painting, drawing and writing. I went on to study Creative Writing and Art Studio in college, and was thrilled to have my art featured in several shows.
While I deviated a bit from fine art for awhile, delving into the digital arts via graphic design and website development, I am very happy to be back in the thick of it now, painting, drawing and creating art every day.
In my art I explore the concept that there are no absolutes in life. Good, bad, beautiful, ugly… these are words we hear every day, but I don’t believe any of those absolutes actually exist. My art challenges a simplified view of the world. It encourages people to find real beauty in the co-mingling of opposing forces and seemingly divergent entities. While there is no pure good, there is good in bad and vice versa. Something ugly has very real beauty in its qualities. Something unknown may be familiar upon further investigation. These juxtapositions fascinate me, and through my art I hope to encourage people to look deeper at their environments, and both discover and appreciate these wonderful complexities all around them.
In addition to my original art collections, I also combine my love for animals with my passion for art by creating custom, commissioned pet portraits. My portraits range from colorful and bold to more traditional, and I even offer some really unique, stylized custom portraits. Check out my pet portraits page to browse some of my portrait styles.
