Thanks so much for visiting my website! I appreciate you taking the time to check out my artwork.
A little about me… I live with my husband and our three beautiful children in sunny Tucson, Arizona. I get to draw and paint either in my studio, or outside, surrounded by birds, trees and flowers. It is absolutely gorgeous here, so I feel truly thankful to be an Arizona artist with the inspiration of the desert all around me.
I grew up in Northern California, and have always loved anything involving either creativity or animals. When I wasn’t riding horses or playing with my dogs, I loved painting, drawing and writing. I went on to study Creative Writing and Art Studio in college, and was thrilled to have my art featured in several shows.
While I deviated a bit from fine art for awhile, delving into the digital arts via graphic design and website development, I am very happy to be back in the thick of it now, painting, drawing and creating art every day.
My painting process is idea first, image second. For me, this gives each piece a point of view and a story, and having those qualities brings them alive both on the canvas and in the way they interact with the people who view them. While the image is ultimately just as important as the idea, without concept first, the aesthetics don’t flow. As a whole, my art encourages people to see their surroundings not just as a moment in time, but as something affected by their specific life experiences. This mind’s eye perspective makes image perception a bit fluid, which in turn allows my paintings to blur the lines of reality. Appreciating how diverse experiences can affect perception creates empathy and understanding, and I hope to encourage this through my art. I paint with an often surreal and humorous twist, adding lightness and fun to art that has a more complex meaning for those who choose to look deeper.
In addition to the many wonderful art exhibitions I have been privileged to be a part of, I also received the Arizona Commission on the Arts Research & Development Grant in 2023, and the Carmody Foundation "Art for Good" Grant in 2024.
In addition to my original art collections, I also combine my love for animals with my passion for art by creating custom, commissioned pet portraits. My portraits range from colorful and bold to more traditional, and I even offer some really unique, stylized custom portraits. Check out my pet portraits page to browse some of my portrait styles.
Thanks again for stopping by. It is because of YOU that I get to do what I love, and for that I am tremendously grateful.
A rare, behind-the-scenes peek at the peaceful, zen ambiance of the artist's studio!
